Eleanor Flick

Eleanor M. "Ellie" Flick, 65, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 15, 1944 in Warroad, Minn., she was the daughter of Casmir and Helen Flick.

Ellie worked as a nurse at various places, graduating from the former St. Joseph School of Nursing in Alton. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 15 years, St. Mary’s Hospital in East St. Louis for 18 years, Madison County Nursing Home for 2 years, VIP Manor in Wood River for 6 years, and part time at Eldercare. An active member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River, she served as secretary of the seniors. She also was a historian for the Madison County Retired Nurses and a charter member of Recovery Room Nurses of greater St. Louis.

She is survived by a brother, Stanley Flick of Warroad and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Esther Flick; an infant brother; a sister, Anna Loebrick; a stepsister, Mary E. Connoyer; and an aunt, May Holcomb.

Visitation will be Friday, June 11 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights from 9 a.m. until Father James Flach officiates a service at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
