Sherry Lenn Cope, 57, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born November 2, 1952 in Alton to Andrew George and Mildred (Douglas) Lewis. On September 27, 1969 in Alton she married Jack W. Cope.
She was a devoted and loving housewife, mother and memaw, and she loved to fish and camp with her family. Sherry was a Christian woman and member of the Anchor of Hope Fellowship in Alton.
Surviving are two daughters; Jill Marie Smith and her husband Darren of Alton and Tina Lenn Robertson and her husband Daniel of South Roxana. Two sons; Jackie Wayne Cope Jr. and his wife Chandra of Alton and Terry Lee Cope and his wife Melissa Anne of Alton. 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Three brothers; Ronnie Lewis of Cottage Hills, Lonnie Lewis of Cottage Hills and Gerry Lewis of Alton. Four sisters; Shirley Fitzgerald of Providence R.I., Bonnie Patton of New Athens, IL, Norma Elliott of Alton and Betty Price of Brighton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother; Robert Lewis and two sisters; Patsy Wilkens and Darlene Cope.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Anchor of Hope Fellowship located at 503 Milton Road in Alton with Reverend Seeram Garney to officiate.
