William Lloyd "Rebel" Kessinger, 51, died at 3:01 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at his home in rural Jersey County after a prolonged battle with lung cancer.

Born on June 21, 1958 in Tampa, Florida, he was the oldest son born to the late Harold Lloyd and Vivian Lavay (Weller) Kessinger.

He attended Jersey Community High School, and followed in his fathers footsteps, and attended barber training. He had been employed at AO Smith in Granite City, Excel in Beardstown, and was working as a detailer at the St. Louis Auto Auction until becoming ill.

Growing up with eight siblings, he enjoyed his family,constantly pulling pranks on them that he learned from his favorite show "Three Stooges", anything to do with the outdoors and photography.

Surviving are three brothers, Michael Kessinger of Roodhouse, Joseph Kessinger & John Kessinger both of Patterson; five sisters,Valerie Benedict of Jerseyville, Sanna Kessinger of Pennyslvania, Rebecca Kessinger of Virginia, Il., Melissa Herring of Godfrey, and Jennifer Winters of Roodhouse; many neices and nephews, and great neices and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m.,. Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Grimes-Neeley Cemetery in Jerseyville, where he will be laid to rest alongside his father.

Memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
