Donald A. Jacoby, 82, passed away at 6:13 am Saturday May 22, 2010 at home with his family by his side.
He was born on August 11, 1927 in Alton, IL the son of Phillip and Ruth (Herrmann) Jacoby.
He married the former Jacqueline A “Jackie” Olsby on June 21, 1950 in Alton she preceded him in death.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Pharmacist Mate and Corpsman after high school. Don was president and co-owned and operated Jacoby Furniture in Alton for 48 years.
He lived in the Alton area all of his life, attended Alton High School and then Westminster College in Fulton, MO. He belonged to the College Ave. Presbyterian Church for 60 years and was a Trustee, Deacon and Elder at the church
One son, Scott A. Jacoby of Sterling, IL, one cousin Jack Jacoby of Godfrey, one sister in law Dolly Olsby and a very special friend Jan Hines survive him`.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son Stephen Jacoby and one brother Monte Jacoby.
A memorial service will be conducted at the College Ave. Presbyterian Church at 10 am Thursday May 27, 2010 with the Rev. Janet Riley officiating.
Burial will be private at Valhalla Memorial Park.
