Everett Johnson

Everett V. Johnson, 86, passed away at 1:00 am on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton. 

He was born on August 29, 1923 in Litchfield, Illinois, the son of Henrey & Violet Johnson. 

He married Mary E. (Willey) on November 16, 1946 in Gillespie, Illinois.  She passed away on January 3, 1994.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and the Korean Conflict.  He was a pipefitter for Owens Illinois Glass for over 30 years. He was a former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.  He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family and friends. 

He is survived by a son, John Thomas Johnson and life partner Tom Overy of South St. Louis, MO; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia & Louis Valdes of Wood River; four grandchildren, Amanda Valdes and Fiancé, Quinten Ebber, Bradley Everett Valdes, Christina Doughlas and her husband Chris and Eric Valdes and his wife Donna; eight great grandchildren, Kaylee Lynn Isringhousen, Delanie Elizabeth Ebber, Erica Valdes, Hanna Hayes, Shane Valdes, Ryan Douglas, Nina Noutrie and Elexis Noutrie; a sister-in-law, Ceclia M. Beyer of St. Louis, MO; a nephew and his wife, Brian & Judy Beyer of St. Louis, MO and a dear friend and uncle, Russell I. Bunn of Florissant, MO.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 10 until funeral service at 12 noon on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton, with Brother John Luong O.M.V.

Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 2 pm on Friday.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
