Richard "Wayne" Johnessee, age 49, passed away at 7:35 pm, Sunday, May 2, 2010, at his residence.
He was born in Alton, IL. on January 27, 1961, to Harry R. and Doris (Fisher) Johnessee.
Richard married Phyllis A. (Bruce) on August 31, 1984 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Alton, IL. She survives.
He was a 1979 graduate of Alton High School, Vice-President Johnessee Construction Inc., a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IL. and Alton Wood River Sportsman Club in Godfrey, IL. He was also a member of the Carpenters Local #377 of Alton, IL. Richard was an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting, deer hunting and goose hunting. He also competed in Outdoorsman Sporting Clay competitions. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his wife, parents, two children; Adam and Abagail Johnessee both of Alton, IL. one brother and his spouse; Kevin and Marla Johnessee of Edwardsville, IL. four sisters and their spouses; Patty and Randy Heil of Alton, IL. Kathy and Brad Travis of E. Alton, IL. Pam and Ken Cox of St.Louis, MO. and Judy and Chad Mitchell of St.Peters, MO. his mother-in law; Evada Bruce, two sister-in-laws; Penny Lovegren of Florissant, MO. and Patti and her spouse Bud Smith of Alton, Il. and two brother-in-laws and their spouses; Maurice and Julie Bruce of Florissant, MO. and Michael and Deb Bruce of E. Alton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Harry W. Bruce.
A Memorial mass will be at 10 am, Thursday, May 6, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IL. with Fr. Namdi Moneme O.M.V. as celebrant.
Memorials may be given to Charity of one’s choice.
