John "Jack" Manns, 78, went to be with the Lord at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, MO. Born September 1, 1931 in Alton, he was the son of John George and Alice Jarvis (Deem) Manns.
He retired as supervisor from Con Agra after 34 years of service and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Moro Presbyterian Church and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all. On December 7, 1951 he married the former Mary Cecilia Neely at the Moro Presbyterian Church. She survives.
Also surviving are five children; Gilbert Wayne Manns and wife Katherine of Dorsey, Susan Elaine Wetzel and husband Randy of Florissant, MO, Robin Ann Bishop and husband Bob of Bunker Hill, Jacqueline Lynne Goodrich and husband Anthony of Dorsey and Jill Cecilia Emmons and husband Mick of Godfrey, 16 grandchildren; Scott, Jason and Erin Manns, Kelly Timmermeier, Ryan and Rachel Wetzel, Dave, Dan and Eric Bishop, Brandon Watson, Jordan and Duncan Goodrich, Tyler Pichee, Bailee and Molly Emmons and Rachel Wahle, eleven great grandchildren, one brother, James Manns and wife Noreen of Jerseyville and a sister, Mary Alice Cooper and husband Leslie of Dorsey.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Reverend Charles Hoesktra will officiate.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Moro Presbyterian Church.
