Donald Fleigle

Donald E. Fleigle, 79, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born June 5, 1930 in Morrisonville, Ill., he was the son of Elbert H. and Edna M. (Payne) Fleigle.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served from 1951 to 1953.

He worked as a foreman at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. for 34 years before his retirement.

He married Doris M. Lamparter June 30, 1951 in Alton. She passed away Feb. 22, 2005.

He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Madonna and Rick Mosley of Celina, Tex., Julie and David Kruckeberg of Edwardsville, Tina and Mark Evans of Jerseyville, and Tracy and Bob Streeper of Bethalto; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gregory Alan and Donna Fleigle of East Alton and Mark Andrew Fleigle of Wood River; 12 grandchildren, Tommy and Kristen Fleigle, Kyle and Kory Crawford, Kody Parker, Erica and Shelby Fleigle, Melissa, Michelle and Ryan Kruckeberg, Erin Mosley, and Morgan Streeper; 2 great grandchildren, Graci and Abbi Crawford; and his fiancée, Bernadine Cope.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Harrison; and a brother, James Fleigle.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, with a prayer service at 4 p.m.

Father James Flach will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 5 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River.

Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, with military honors by the Ritual Team of Alton VFW Post #1308.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Holy Angels Church.
