Catherine "Katie" Riner, 83, died Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 3:50 pm at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her beloved family by her side.
She was born March 6, 1927 in Alton, IL to the late Michael and Susie Bosoluke.
She married Roy Riner on April 11, 1953 in Alton, IL. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1958.
Katie worked for 40 years at Owens Illinois Glass Co. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, gardening, and helping others. She was an avid fan of Cubs Baseball and the St. Louis Blues. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Randy Johns of Godfrey; a grandson, Patrick (Stacy) Johns of Alton; a granddaughter, Stephanie (Jay) Sinclair of Godfrey and one great-granddaughter, Ella, and two great-grandsons, Dustin and Austin; two brothers, Frank Bosoluke and Stanley (Sharon) Bosoluke of Alton; two sisters, Helen Bosoluke and Rosemary Bosoluke, also of Alton and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Bosoluke and Steven Bosoluke, and twin sisters Edna and Eva Bosoluke.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, April 20 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10am on Wednesday, April 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Mary’s Church in Alton.
