Verna Clara Killam, 90, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Hospital.
Born June 10, 1919, she was the daughter of Thurman and Julia (Schillinger) Corey.
She married Kelly Judd in 1937, and he passed away in 1988. She later married Byron Killam in 1990, and he passed away Sept. 16, 1998.
An executive for McGraw-Hill Publishers, she retired in 1985 after 26 years.
She is survived by a sister, Eileen Bowers of Bethalto; a brother, Tom Corey of Wood River; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Bernice Wiegand.
Visitation will be Friday, Apr. 9 at the United Presbyterian Church in Wood River from 10 a.m. until Rev. Pam Laing officiates services at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Memorials may be made to the church or the American Cancer Society.
