Lydia Ricci

Lydia K. Ricci, 94, passed away at 12:55 pm on Friday, March 26, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton with her family by her side.

She was born on November 7, 1915 in Mark, IL, the daughter of Guilio & Elena (Zanni) Ricci.

Lydia graduated from St. Louis University with her Master’s Degree. She was a nurse for over 37 years until retiring in 1976. She had worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alton and the Highland Hospital. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. She was a member of the American Nurses Association and the Soroptimist Club. She loved to travel and had traveled a couple of times overseas and to Alaska.

She is survived by a sister, Emma Stotler of Moro; a sister-in-laws Elizabeth Ricci of Bethalto ; 14 nieces and nephews, most in this area and 14 great nieces and nephews; 21 great, great nieces and nephews and several special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jim Ricci and a sister, Dean Meldi.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9:30 am until a funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Monday, March 29, 2010 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto with Father Tom Liebler officiating.

Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church Angel Fund.
