Betty A. (Cogan) Gutierrez, 69, went to be with the Lord at 5:10 pm Monday, March 22, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
She was born on March 27, 1940 in Alton, Illinois, daughter of the late Frank & Ann (Hellrung) Cogan.
She married Joseph Gutierrez on June 17, 1972 in Alton, IL. He survives.
Betty was employed at Blocks as a waitress in Godfrey, Natulas as a baby sitter in Alton and Save Mart as a checker in Wood River for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. She loved camping, fishing, bowling, swimming and sitting on her front porch visiting with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by many.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Denis & Ron Miller of Brighton and Mary Weller of Fr. Lauderdale FL; one grandson, Cody Miller of Brighton; one sister, Judy Cogan of Alton; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank & Jane Cogan of Alton; special neighbors, Jim & Debby Stumpf of Godfrey; good friends, Brett & Angie Fulgham of Rosewood Heights; her beloved pet Rufus and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, March 26, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Chirs Uhl O.M.V. officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
