Edward A. Brunner, 79, died at 7:55 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.
He was born December 13, 1930 in Wood River, Illinois to John and Catherine (Wigger) Brunner.
He retired in 1994 after 43 years of service as the Secretary/Treasury at Weber Chevrolet in Creve Coeur, MO. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and served as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of St. Louis University. He enjoyed his hobby of boating and especially traveling the rivers of the Tennessee valley and the Mississippi river from St. Louis, MO to Minnesota. On March 17, 1951 in Alton he married Honora “Nonie” Brueggeman.
Besides his wife he is survived by one son; Edward A. Brunner and his wife Brenda of Memphis, TN. Two daughters; Linda Olszowy and her husband Joseph of Fenton, MO and Nancy M. Cleveland and her husband Michael E. of Alton. A son-in-law; David Brammer of Omaha, Nebraska. Four grandchildren; Heather Elizabeth Brunner of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Kayla Anne Olszowy and Joseph Edward Olszowy of Fenton, MO and Dane Cleveland of Alton. One brother; Donald Brunner and his wife Mary of Ballwin, MO.
He was preceded in death by one daughter; Barbara Ann Brammer.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A mass of Christian burial will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will be private at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN or the Alton Area Animal Aid Association (5A’s)
