Robert E. Bourland, 62, passed away at 11:55 am Saturday March 20, 2010 at in the emergency room at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May, 4, 1947 in Alton, IL the son of Ezra "Barney" & Marguritte (Anderson) Bourland.
He married Marie Brown on December 12, 1970 at Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene in Alton.
He retired in 2007 from Olin Corporation where he worked as a finisher in the fabricating department.
He enjoyed playing with grandchildren and his many pets, gardening, welding and going to Hilltop Auction.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a son, William Bourland of Moro, and a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Eric Latchford of Moro, four grandchildren, Janey, Allie, Tabi and Jimmy; one sister, Freda Twitchell of Wood River, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Florella Wyman.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 10 am until time of funeral services at 2:00 pm Tuesday March 23, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Phil Schneider officiating.
Burial will follow at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Meadowbrook Fire Department.
