Homer Bradley

Homer Ray Bradley, 65, passed away at 1:09pm on Monday, March 15, 2010, at Alton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on February 27, 1945 in Owensboro, Kentucky the son of the late Homer C. and Dorothy (Sutton) Bradley. He married the former Mary Ann Hoots on July 3, 1963 in Meadowbrook and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter: Christina Bradley of Hartford, Illinois, one son and daughter in law: Tony and Debara Bradley of Shipman, Illinois, five grandsons: Anthony Ballinger, Ryne Harrison, Brad Harrison, Kyle Bradley, and Alec Bradley, five sisters and their spouses: Shirley King of Cottage Hills, Illinois, Linda Bradley and her companion Dennis Yeager of Fulton, New York, Debbie Bradley of Bethalto, Illinois, Sheila and Maynard Hurlbut of Cottage Hills, Illinois, Martha Bradley of Cottage Hills, Illinois, two brothers and a sister in law: Gary and Ikca Bradley of Lakeland, Florida, and James Bradley of Cottage Hills, Illinois, his mother in law: Rhea Pearson of Hartford, Illinois, two brothers in law: Bruce Shaw of Hartford, Illinois, and Brian Shaw and his wife Marion of Brighton, Illinois along with several nieces, nephews, and special friends all survive.

He was formerly employed at US Reduction for 13 years and then he worked at Beverly Farm Foundation for 26 years as a teacher's aide prior to his retirement in March of 2007. He loved playing softball, coaching softball, fishing, gardening, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was on the Board of Directors at the Wood River Roundhouse for the softball league.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father in law: Delmont Pearson, and his best friend and brother in law: Paul King.

Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, March 19, 2010 at the funeral home. Pastor Randy Fischer will officiate. Cremation rites will follow.

Memorials are suggested Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton and will be accepted at the funeral home.
