Leslie Gallagher

Leslie I. Gallagher, age 84, passed away at 8:00 am on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at VIP Manor in Wood River.

He was born in East Alton, IL, on January 12, 1926, son of the late Elmer E. & Louie (Boswell) Gallagher.

Leslie was employed out of the Wood River Local as a labor for many years.  He served his country during WWII in the Merchant Marians and then moved to the Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion in East Alton and the VFW Post 2859 in Wood River.  He was an avid reader, loved sports and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin S. & Leona Gallagher of Cero Springs, IL and Hugh A. & Dorothy M. Gallagher of Bethalto; one sister and brother-in-law, June & Jerry Link of FL and several nieces nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Lawrence.

Graveside services will be private at J. B. Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, at a later date.

Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
