Jack D. Martin Sr., 82, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born April 8, 1927 in Alton, he was the son of Lloyd and Bess (Hendricks) Martin.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Piasa Masonic Lodge #26 and served as President of the Alton Area Educational Employees Credit Union for over 30 years. He retired in 1987 as maintenance supervisor for the Alton School District. On June 14, 1947 in Alton he married the former Harriett Wild. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons; Jack Martin Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Florissant, MO and Rick Martin and his wife Jane of Florence, KY, three grandchildren; Joshua Martin of Westzville, MO, Jenna Martin and her fiancé Ben Pendry of Indianapolis, IN and Meghan Walker and her husband James of Florence, KY and one great grandchild, Jackson Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Lloyd Jerome Martin.
Mr. Martin was cremated per his request, and honoring his wishes there will be no services.
