Mya Dougherty

Mya Kay Dougherty, 16 months, died unexpectedly at her residence at 11:29 a.m., Sunday, February 28, 2010.

She was born in Jerseyville on Oct. 20, 2008, and was the much loved and cherished daughter of Mason Patrick & Jennifer Marie (Schultz) Dougherty.

A happy girl, Mya was a free spirit who loved to dance around, was enamored with purses, and loved to play with her puppy, Zeus.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents and great grandparents who cherished her and will miss he immensely, Tim & Carol Dougherty of Jerseyville, Rev. Ralph "Bo" & Kathy (Frazer) Schultz of Fieldon, and Frances Dawes of Goreville; great grandparents, Doris Thompson of Fieldon, Frances Dougherty of Jerseyville, and Ruth Ann & Brandy Williams of Blue Mound; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Patrick Dougherty, Joseph Hunter, George & May Schultz, and Fred Frazer; an uncle, Abram Kirby; and a great uncle, Joseph Hunter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday. Rev. David Campbell will officiate. Burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, where her grandfather, Rev. Bo Schultz will officiate.

Memorials may be directed to the family in care of the funeral home, which will be used to erect a permament monument at the cemetery in her honor.
