Willard L. Young, 72 passed away at 8:50 am on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at his home with his family by his side, while under the care of Heartland Hospice.
He was born on May 7, 1937 in Springerton, IL, the son of Royal & Mary (Files) Young.
Willard served his country in the Marine Reserves from 1956 ? 1960. He was employed by McDonnell Aircraft for 30 years, from 1964 until his retirement in 1993, as a supervisor. He was a member of the Wood River Masonic Lodge. He liked woodworking, bowling and fishing.
He is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, Kevin L & Pamela Young of Clinton, MO; a daughter & son-in-law, Sherri L. & Harry Spann of Bethalto and their mother, Roslyn; four grandchildren and their spouses, Sarah Young Lewis & Josh of Wood River, RyAnn Spann of Bethalto, Melissa Spann Tarrant & Kyle of East Alton and Thomas Spann of Bethalto; one step grandson, Chuck Porter Jr. & his wife, Lisa of Godfrey; two great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren and one step great, great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Beverly Young and Jeanne Young Hawley.
Per his request, cremation rites were accorded.
Memorials may be given to the Villa Rose Activity Fund.
