Christopher William Seehausen, 42, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 19, 2010 at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada after suffering an apparent heart attack.

He was born in Jerseyville on Jan. 25, 1968, one of two children born to Gerald William & Marybelle (Shaw) Seehausen.

Chris grew up in Fieldon and attended Fieldon Elementary and graduated from Jersey Community High School with the Class of 1986. He enlisted with the U.S. Army in Sept. of 1996, and served with the Transportation Corp. in Germany, and was honorably discharge in Feb. 1989. A truck driver by trade, Chris had driven for Herb Hagen Trucking in Fieldon, Reichmann Transport, and was currently driving for Fremont Contract Carriers out of Nebraska at the time of his death. He enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors, and was especially fond of fishing, shooting trap and duck hunting when time allowed.

He married the former Vicki Compton of Fieldon on March 4, 1992 in Jerseyville, and together they have shared the past 17 years together.

Surviving are his wife, his father, Gerald Seehausen of Fieldon; a sister, Kim Woelfel, and her companion, Joe Gerson of Fieldon; a nephew, Andrew Woelfel, and his wife, Amy, and their three children, Jacob, Caleb & Zachary; two neices, Kayla Woelfel & Katie Woelfel; his grandmothers, Geneva Seehausen of Fieldon, and Eva Tucker of Pueblo West, Co.; an uncle & his wife, Wayne & Bonnie Seehausen and their children, Jody, Tara & Rhonda all of Jerseyville; an aunt & her husband, Susan & Ed Greenhood and their children, Aaron & Angie; and an aunt, Dora Sapp of Louisiana, Mo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marybelle Seehausen; grandfathers, Stanley Seehausen and Henry Shaw; his grandmother, Mary Weeks; an uncle, Terry Seehausen; and a cousin, William "Billy" Seehausen.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Barbara Alley will officiate.

Burial will be in the Fieldon Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Fieldon United Church of Christ Youth Group.
