Mary Boyd

Mary Louise Boyd, 81, of Alton, Illinois, passed away February 21, 2010 at her daughters home in Parker, Colorado surrounded by her loving family.
 
She was born August 2, 1928 in Alton, Illinois to the late James and Miranda (Woods) Barnard.
 
She married the late Paul Walker Boyd on August 5, 1949, he preceded her in death on June 25, 2004. To this union two children were born, Marsha and Bruce.
 
Mary lived in Alton all her life. She graduated from Alton High School in 1946. After raising her children she went on to attend the F.W. Olin Vocational School of Practical Nursing, graduating with honors on September 30, 1969. Mary received a certificate of award from Alton Memorial Hospital for outstanding clinical work.
 
Mary's life was centered on God and family. She was a lifetime member of the Cherry Street Baptist Church where she was very active in church activities including teaching, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a great student of the Bible. She was most happy when surrounded by family, taking great pleasure in her children and grandchildren. 
 
She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed needlepoint and tole painting. She worked many a crossword puzzle and won many a scrabble game. She also enjoyed the natural world, traveling with her family to see many of America's most beautiful places. 
 
Mary is survived by and will be dearly missed by her daughter Marsha and husband Wayland Britt, son Bruce and wife Elizabeth Boyd; grandchildren Sam and wife Sarah Boyd, Paul and wife Jessica Boyd, Clint and wife Debbie Britt, Kyle Britt, and Sandra and husband Kevin Gabrych; great grandchildren Jack, Elise, Olivia, and Luke Boyd, and Travis and Avery Britt. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Miranda, husband Paul, and her brother Don.

Visitation will be from, 10 am till time of service at 1pm on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, Il. with the Rev. Paul Militzer officiating.

Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, Illinois
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crisis Food Center in Alton, Il.
