Karen Lynn Thomas, 52, left this world at 9:40 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in San Pedro, Ca., on March 30, 1957, one of two children born to Eugene E. & Jeannette (Wagner) Schuh II. As an infant, her family relocated to Jersey County, where she attended Dow Grade School and graduated from Jersey Community High School with the Class of 1975.
She married Danny K. Thomas on June 11, 1977, the first couple to be married at the Peace United Church of Christ in Jerseyville. They have resided in Jerseyville during their 32 years marriage, and were the proud parents of two children. Karen attend LCCC where she earned her dental assitant requirements, and was employed in the field for man years, beginning with Dr. Scott Beavers in Carrollton, Dr. Koch in Alton, and most recently with Dr. Steven Dawson of Jerseyville, until her health began to fail.
She was a devoted woman, being faithful to her First Assembly of God family where she was a youth sponsor as well as a Sunday School teacher, and considered her family the core of her being. A perfect day for Karen would have consisted of reading on her backyard swing, and on a inclement day, you could find her cross stitching.
Surviving her are her husband, Danny K. Thomas of Jerseyville, her mother, Jeannette Schuh of Dow; a son & daughter in law, Andrew & Shannon Thomas of Jerseyville; a daughter & son in law, Sarah & Dean Schannot of Jerseyville; a week old grandson, Hudson Thomas Schannot; and a brother & sister in law, Eugene E. & Connie Schuh III of Alton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, with Rev. Randy Cartwright officiating. Burial will be in the Fieldon Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville or to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
