Hazel M. "Nanny" Johnson, 79, passed away at 9:29 pm on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at her home.

She was born on January 14, 1931 in Bluefield, West Virginia, the daughter of William Clinton & Sarah Farmer.

She married Sydney W. Johnson on March 15, 1953 in Alton, IL. He passed away October 2004.

She was a home health care aid for Absolute Health Care. She was a member of the Alton Moose Lodge. She loved collecting, sewing, painting, spending time outside, feeding her birds and squirrels, pets, flowers and most of all spending time with her family, friends and her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters and spouses, Pamela Johnson & William "Chuck" Hazelrigg of Alton and Paula "Penny" & Kevin Wells of Bethalto; a son-in-law, Daniel Wheeler; 10 grandchildren, Joseph Barnerd, William Barnerd, Jackie & Mike Luttrell, Jack & Jaime Barnerd, Justin Johnson, William "Chance" Hazelrigg & Rachel Fletcher, Jonathan Hazelrigg, Callie Logan, Stephanie Wells and Lucas Wells & Sarah Lawson; 14 great grandchildren, Dustin, Cody, Alexandria, Adrian, Scarlett, Sydney, Chance II, Chase, Leah, Angelo, Jason, Rachel, Anthony and Elizabeth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Kitten Wheeler, 2 brothers, Trigg Farmer and Glen Farmer and a sister, Virginia Rhea.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Staten Fine Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be at 11 am on Thursday, February 18, 2010 with Pastor Dave Prosser officiating.

Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to the 5 A's.
