Beltina Forbes

Beltina "Betty Lou" Forbes, 79, passed away at 10:35 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at Eldercare of Alton.

She was born to Clyde and Leota (McCoy) Forbes in Alton on Oct. 30, 1930.

A member of the AMVETS Auxiliary, she was a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1955-1959.

She worked as a registered nurse at Wood River Township Hospital and Alton Mental Health Center until she retired in 1982 after 20 years.

She will be missed by many, including her son and daughter-in-law Jonathon and Laura Forbes of Alton; her grandchildren, Rebecca Forbes Butcher and her husband Matt, Bradley Forbes and Danyelle Forbes; her great grandchildren, Ashley and Amie Butcher; her sister, Roberta Goodman of Wood River; and her brother, Clyde Forbes of Hartford.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and two sisters, Carmelita Johnson and Marietta Henry.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12.

Inurnment will be at a later date at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
