Sybil Rose Vasser, 78, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Monday, February 08, 2010 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Carlinville.

Born in Louisiana, Mo. on Feb. 14, 1931, she was the daughter of Carroll Alexander and Iretta Margaret (Clark) Beck.

She married Derwood Vasser Apr. 29, 1950 in Alton. He survives.

She was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church, assisting with funerals for approximately 25 years and working in the nursery for 30. She also taught children in the church for many years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Pamela Sue Vasser-Kopp of Hardin; overloads of nieces and nephews, up to great-great-greats; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her two sons, Allen Derwood Vasser and mark Wayne Vasser; her mother and father; and her brothers and sisters, Gladys Mary Beck, Roy Pierson Beck, Ethel Frances (Beck) Keith, Clara Blanche (Beck) Waterworth Mock, Ireha Eileen (Beck) Chandler, Esther Eugena (Beck) Mazik Waterworth, Lawrence Carroll Beck, Charlene May Faynette (Beck) Croquart, Randall David Beck, Lucille Beck, and Ira Hamilton Beck.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11.

Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

In keeping with the memory of Sybil, instead of memorials, do a good deed for someone without them knowing it.
