Rosie Elease Wheeler, 64, died at 7:42 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Alton on April 23, 1945, and was the daughter of the late Harry & Dovie (Walker) Anderson.

As a youngster, Rosie grew up in the Carrollton area, attending schools there was a cheerleader.  She was a resident of Wood River for many years, before she & her husband built there home in rural Pearl in 1993. Rosie will be best remembered as a kind and loving soul.  She loved to give of herself and volunteered wherever she felt it was needed.  She treasured her family and her frienships that she developed throughout her life, and felt those relationships were what mattered most. She was a member of the Eldred Baptist Church, as well as the Kampsville American Legion Post #1083 Ladies Auxillary, and enjoyed her garden and flowers in her spare time.

She married Perry Wheeler on Oct. 4, 1980 in Wood River, and together they have shared and enjoyed nearly 30 years together.

Surviving are her husband; five children & their spouses, Stacey & Steve Ruyle, Tammy & Brian Nicholson, Angie Newton all of Jerseyville, Scott & Lynne Wheeler  and Steven & Rachael Wheeler all of Florissant, Mo.; eight grandchildren & their spouses, Jenna & Brian Cornelius of Dow, Becca Ruyle of Jerseyville, Britni Nicholason of South Roxana, Brandi Nicholson & Taylor Bechel both of Jerseyville, Garrett Wheeler,Wyatt Wheeler and Samara Wheeler all of Florissant; her first great grandchild due in September;two brothers, Harry Anderson of Meadowbrook and Linn Anderson of Plainview; a sister, Mildred Fitscher of Kenmore, NY; and a special niece, Jeri Andrews of Worden.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Eldred Baptist Church in Eldred with Rev. John Hardwick officiating. Burial will take place at the Borlin Cemetery in rural Carrollton. Memorials may be given to the Eldred Baptist Church.
