Doris Mae "Sissy" Martin, 54, died unexpectedly at 8:07 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2010 in the emergency room at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. She was born in Jerseyville on Feb. 12 1955, and graduated from Jersey Community High School with the Class of 1974.
She was a loving daughter, mother, sister, and was especially proud of her three granddaughters, and took advantage of any opportunity presented to her to spend time with them.
Surviving are her mother, Doris Jean "Dee" Frazier of Fieldon; her father & step mother, David & Linda Martin of Brighton; two daughters & a son in law, Danielle Parr, and her companion, William "Tom" Thompson of Jerseyville, and Deaven & Michael Beyers of Fieldon; her three granddaughters, Deena, Makinzie, & Destiney; two sisters & a brother in law, Vicki Martin, and her companion, Rick Blaine of Jerseyville, and Michele & Bo Herkert of Fieldon; a brother, David Martin, and his companion, Pamela McCormick of Omaha, Ne.; a step brother & his wife, Tony & Tammy Gunterman of Dow; a step sister, Jeanie Gunterman of Brighton; and her former husband and father of her two daughters, Donald Parr of Valdosta, Ga.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Otis & Hattie Martin and Alvin "Cotton" and Norma Bensa.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday. Rev. Barbara Alley will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. In lieu of flowers & plants, the family of Sissy Martin would genuinely appreciate any gifts of kindness be directed in the form of a memorial to assist with expenses.
