Elsie W. Ervin, 83, passed away at 8:50 pm Monday January 25, 2010 at Eldercare of Alton.
Elsie was born on March 10, 1926 in Green County, Il, the daughter of Emilis Ward and Ethel Ruth (Willis) Schutz.
She married Homer Ervin on August 19, 1960 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Alton, Il. He survives.
Elsie was a devoted and active member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Alton. She also enjoyed cake decorating, and especially loved being with her family.
She is survived by a daughter; Evelyn Dunston, of Alton, Il. and a son; Gregory Ervin of East Alton, Il. two grandchildren; Tisha Lynn Bridges-Ervin, and James Edward Dunston Jr., a sister; Mary Atkinson of White Hall, Il. and a brother; Howard Schutz of Jacksonville, Il.
Elsie was preceded in death by; her parents, her 1st husband Harry W. Kendall Jr., one sister and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 12:30 pm to 3 pm, Sunday January 31, 2010 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home, in Alton, Il. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home, in Alton, Il. with the Rev. Andre Dobson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton, Il.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
