Annie Henson

Annie M. Henson, 100, passed away at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2010 at Robings Manor in Brighton where she had resided for almost two years. She was born in Alton on December 23, 1909, a daughter of the late George and Mathilda (Wolf) Rhoades. She was raised by her grandparents, Henry and Martha Wolf.

She married Larnie R. Henson on June 10, 1927. He died January 24, 1983.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, L. Robert "Bob" and Cheryl Henson of Alton, two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Harold Fink of Alton, and Shirley and Henry Vassar of Godfrey, four grandchildren, Joseph A. Fink of Rosewood Heights, Chris L. Fink of Bethalto, Kelley M. Schultz of Alton, and Vanessa J. Vassar of Mattoon, IL, four great grandchildren, Justin and Jason Nasello, Tanner Fink, and Madison Schultz, two great-great grandchildren, Jaedyn and Austin Nasello. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Kinnie McCollum and Gladys Lischman and one brother, C. Edward Rhoades.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Cornerstone Church at Bethalto. Pastor Phil Schneider will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Church at Bethalto, formerly cottage Hills Assembly, where she faithfully attended for fifty years. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
