Gerard Hack

Gerard "Jerry" Hack, 54, died at 8:10 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at his home in Alton. Born February 4, 1955 in Alton, he was the son of the late Herbert and Margaret (Maher) Hack.

The past 15 years he worked as a furniture tech for Kloss Furniture / Furniture Brands out of Highland IL and prior to that he worked for Gilberts Carriage House of Alton. On July 6, 1974 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, he married Terri (Smith) Hack and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters; Tara (Hack) Rahn and her husband Chris of Maryland Heights, MO, and Erin Hack of Alton, two grandsons, Tyler and Braden Rahn, a brother, Tom Hack and his wife Sharon of Alton, and a sister, Peggy Friedman and her husband Jan of Vancouver, Canada. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Hack of Alton.

A big part of his life was playing baseball and fast pitch softball. His smile, quick wit, jokes and his knowledge of useless information was something that he shared with everyone he met.

A memorial visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Father Chris Uhl will officiate. Burial will be private. Memorials can be made to the Retina Research and Development Foundation, 1600 S. Brentwood Blvd., Suite 800, St. Louis MO 63144 or a memorial of your choice.
