Gladys Meisenheimer

Gladys L. Meisenheimer, 84, went to be with the Lord at 6:18 am on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 16, 1925 in Madison, IL, the daughter of John & Ann (Utinski) Abrom. She married Kenneth L. Meisenheimer in 1945 in Benld, IL. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2002.

She previously worked at Olin Corporation as a machine operator. She was a homemaker who was a very hard worker, loved to cook, work in her yard, in her garden and loved her flowers. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. She supported the 5 A's and loved animals especially dogs. She was always willing to help and never met a stranger. She belonged to the Bethalto Senior Citizens, where she enjoyed the pot lucks and dances. Gladys was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by a son, Larry & Marilyn Meisenheimer of Bethalto; a daughter, Betty Baker of Moro; 5 grandchildren, Chad Meisenheimer, Ryan Meisenheimer, Barry Baker, Sherri & Kevin Downey and Jay Tomerlin and her great grandchildren, Matthew Baker, Luke Baker and Brian Tomerlin. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 15, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with a rosary service at 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 16, 2010 with Rev. Bob Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
