Mary Lou Plummer, 68, died at 3:45 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2010 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton from complications of cancer. She was born in West Mound Township, Macoupin County, IL. on July 25, 1941, one of eleven children born to the late George Otto & Beulah (Moore) Huff.
Mary Lou was a well liked bartender in the area, working at Eastside Tavern in Jerseyville, Do Drop In in Dow, and lastly at the Norside Wedge in Godfrey. She enjoyed going to the gambling boats, playing bingo with here sister, Gloria, and fishing with her children when they were younger. She was formerly married to Melvin Plummer. The two married on Feb. 23, 1963 in Hardin, and together were the parents of four children.
Surviving are her four children, Karon "Susie" Huff Loyett and her husband, Jimmy Odom of Alton, Tim Plummer, and his companion, Theresa Bunse of Jerseyville, John, and his wife, Crystal Plummer of Elsah, and Paul Plummer of Greenfield; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Wilma Stone of Chesterfield, Gloria Lenington of Rockbridge, and Donna Huff of Jerseyville; four brothers, Frank Huff of Medora, Dean, and his wife, Clara Huff of Jerseyville, Charles, and his wife, Mary Huff of Medora, and Donald Huff, and his companion, Debbie Buck of Medora; a sister in law Kathy Huff of Jerseyville; numerous nieces & nephews, and a special little buddy, Dakota Bowman of Jerseyville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant granddaughters, a sister & brother in law, Della & Dallas Heater; two brothers & a sister in law, Louis "George" & Sally Huff, and Lelise "Whitey" Huff; a sister in law, Dorothy Huff, and a brother in law, Leon Lenington.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wedneday. Father William Hembrow will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Greenfield. Memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
