Debra Lynn McCoy, 53, died unexpectedly at 1:12 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at her residence. She was born in Alton on Nov. 30, 1956, the daughter of Dale & Mary Elizabeth (Singleton) McCoy. A resident of Grafton the majority of her life, she just recently moved to Jerseyville.
Surviving are her mother, Mary Elizabeth Ready of Grafton; two sons & daughters in law, Billy & Katie VanHoose, and Dusty & Stephanie Van Hoose all of Jerseyville. Her two sons gave her four wonderful grandchildren that she loved very much, Kaden, Faith, Haylie & Gracie. She is also survived by a sister & brother in law, Lori & Jim Crowe Jr. of Grafton; two brothers & sisters in law, Tim & Cindy McCoy and Dave & Jennifer McCoy all of Grafton; many special nieces & nephews who also cared for her very much.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dale McCoy; her stepfather, whom she thought just like a father, Raymond Eugene "Gene" Ready; an infant son, William Dale VanHoose; grandparents, Elmer & Elizabeth Singleton and Halley McCoy.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Steve Helfrich will officiate.
Burial will be alongside her father at the Scenic Hill Cemetery in Grafton. Memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home. Debra was a free spirit and loved to be out fishing on the river or just taking walks.
She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. May the wind be beneath her wings.
