Janet Seibert

Janet Marie Seibert, 64, died at 5:00 a.m., Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Christian Hospital Northeast after a 16 day illness. She was born in St. Louis on Feb. 20, 1945, the only child born to the late Dr. George H. & Mildred Marie (Adams) Otrich.

Janet graduated in 1963 from Anna-Jonesboro High School, and enrolled at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, where she graduated in 1967 with a B.S. in Education.  She began working in with Jersey Community Unit School District #100, where she taught first grade at West Elementary for over 30 years before her retirment in 2001. She married James Arthur Seibert on Dec. 23, 1967 in Jonesboro, and the two have made Jerseyville their home since their marriage.

Surviving are her husband, James of Jerseyville; a daughter, Susan Marie Seibert of Jerseyville; and numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of close friends. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or to the Peace United Church of Christ, where she has been a longtime member, and was active in the Christian Workers.
