Wilma L. Smith, 82, passed away at 8:05 am, Saturday December 19, 2009 at Blu Fountain Manor Nursing Home in Godfrey. She was born on November 8, 1927 in Norris City, IL the daughter of Elmer & Carrie (Greer) Heck.
She married William C. Smith on April 13, 1947 in Wood River. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2009. Wilma was a budget analyst for AVSCOM, a government agency in St. Louis for over 20 years. She was a CPA and worked for several banking institutions in St. Louis.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Rose and Gene Stumpf of Batchtown, IL, Cathy and Joe Easley of Elsah, IL, two sons and their wives Jim and Debbie Smith of Smithtown, IL, Chuck and Denise Smith of Springfield, IL; eleven grandchildren, Paula and Gene Howell, Deb and Ron Newman, Jerry Stumpf and companion, Tonya Brown, Sherry and Tony Millitello, Cathy Jo Snyders and her companion, Dave Dean, Lori Ann and Tim Schmittle, Lisa and Rob Schulte, Bob and Jessi Smith, Eric and Sonya Smith, Jessica Smith, and Clayton Smith; fourteen great grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Jerome Smith of Bethalto and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one great grandson Dylan Howell; two sisters, Marylina Leigh and Grace Heck; two brothers, Cecil and Roy Heck.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be held from 10 until time of memorial services at 11 am Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Elias Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with the Rev Dr. Glen Greenwood officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
