Nicole Renee Thorp, 27, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2009 in Godfrey as a result of an automobile accident. She was born on October 26, 1982 in Austin, Texas the daughter of Rick E. and Beth Ann Fetter - Gaudreault. She married Chad S. Thorp on September 11, 2004 at Word of Life Tabernacle Church in Granite City, Illinois and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include her father and step - mother: Rick and Maureen Gaudreault of Pocahontas, Illinois, her mother and step - father: Beth Ann and Matt Brimer of Belleville, Illinois, her son: Dalton Xavier Thorp of Godfrey, one step - sister: Amy and Jeremiah Leos of Corpus Christi, Texas, three step - brothers: David Simpson of Pocahontas, Illinois, Tim and Latisha Simpson of Highland, Illinois, Matthew Brimer of Indiana, her nieces and nephews: Ryan Fetter, Joe Fetter, Maria Fetter, Sarah Fetter, Tori Simpson, Tyler Simpson, T.J. Simpson, Eliana Leos, Jeremiah Leos, Dayne Thorp, Jacob Thorp, Lauren Thorp, and Wyatt Thorp along with several aunts and uncles.

She was a 2004 graduate with a degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville. She was employed at Granite City Steel Federal Credit Union as a marketing manager. She volunteered with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Kids Club at Granite City Steel Federal Credit Union, the Granite City ballpark, she was the former editor of the SIUE newspaper, and a former intern at the Alton Telegraph.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and her uncle: Jackie. She was formerly a caregiver at Beverly Farm Foundation.

Visitation will be from 2pm to 8pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. A prayer service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto. Father Tom Liebler will be the celebrant and Rev. Henry Crippen will assist. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Godfrey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Dalton Xavier Thorp trust fund in care of Granite City Steel Federal Credit Union and will be accepted at the funeral home.
