Doris J. Marks, 89, died at 5:35 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Eden Retirement Center in Edwardsville. Born September 2, 1920 in Wood River, she was the daughter of William Henry and Julia Verne (Ballard) Miller.
She was a member of the North Side Assembly of God Church in Godfrey. On January 17, 1942 in Alton, she married Harold M. Marks. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1999.
Surviving are two sons; Harold M. Marks Jr. and his wife Myrah of Glen Carbon, and Robert W. Marks and his wife Paula of Ozark, MO, four grandchildren; Paul (Suzanne) Marks of Edwardsville, Lori (Michael) Williams of West Chester, PA, Krista (Dave) Nichols of Ozark, MO, and Robby (Heather) Marks of Ozark, MO; five great-grandchildren; Max Moehle, Laura Nichols, Olivia Marks, Luke Marks, and William Marks, and two sisters; Edna (Bill) Copeland of Bethalto and Billie Caveny of Bunker Hill.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
