"L.C." R. Carr, 64, passed away unexpectedly at 9:58 am on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Alton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born on March 20, 1945 in Hayti, Missouri, son of Herbert & Bessie (Breadon) Carr.
He married Rebecca Franks on October 26, 1990 in Cottage Hills. She survives.
Larry was a lineman foreman for Union Electric Company, now Ameren UE for 24 years, retiring in 2003. He also served as the Bethalto Electrical Inspector for 3 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bethalto, the IBEW and the Wood River Moose Lodge. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five children and their spouses, Rick & Tanya Carr of Wood River, Vicki Batista of Bethalto, Terri & Johnny Autry of Valdosta, GA, Chris & Christina Douglass of Bethalto and Amber Douglass of Creve Coeur, MO; eight grandchildren, Jessica & Brad Carr, Tyler Autry, Taryn Corbin, Hannah Hayes, Ryan Douglass and Nicola & Hannah Batista; one brother and sister-in-law, Glenn & JoAnne Carr of Bethalto and his former wife, Pavah Lassiter of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tommy Carr.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 17 2009 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 18, 2009 with Pastor Larry Rhodes officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
