Vincent M. Zipprich, 91, died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at NHC Healthcare in Hendersonville, TN. Born April 13, 1918 in Michael, IL, he was the son of William and Margaret (Herkert) Zipprich.
He retired from Laclede Steel after 34 years of service and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. He married Alice Burney and she preceded him in death on February 14, 1980.
He married the former Morrell Smith on July 12, 1985 in Madison, TN. She survives. Also surviving is a son, Wilbert Zipprich and his wife Sherry of Edwardsville, IL, two step-daughters; Kathie Toll and her husband Steve of Hendersonville, TN and Ernestine Taylor of Nashville, TN, a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Bailey of Fountain Valley, CA, a nephew, Ron Ingersoll and his wife, Alice; and a sister, Delores Barnard of Alton. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Vincent B. Zipprich and a sister, Val Ingersoll.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.
