Elsa C. Maupin, 90, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton. Born May 25, 1919 in Godfrey, she was the daughter of Edward Lester and Elsah Mary (Bland) Maupin.
She worked for the First National Bank of Alton from 1941 until retiring as vice president in 1986. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alton and was past president of the Zonta Club of Alton/Wood River.
Surviving are three sisters-in-law; Irma Maupin of Godfrey, Katherine Maupin of Otterville, and Mary Maupin of Fosterburg. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred A. Orr, and six brothers; Edward, Leland, Raymond, Carl, William and Arthur Maupin.
A graveside service for family and friends will be at 12:00 noon Thursday at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Reverend Rudy Elam will officiate. Memorials may be made to Eunice C. Smith Nursing Home.
