Frances Irene Kuhlman (Ballard), age 89, passed away at 12:50 am, Tuesday November 17, 2009, at Eunice Smith Nursing Home, Alton, IL.
She was born in Athensville, IL on January 14, 1920, the daughter of Howard and Fannie (Grider) Ballard.
Frances married Arthur Kuhlman on March 10, 1949 in Kansas City, MO. He survives.
She was employed at Laclede Steel Company first in the lab as a chemist and later in the offices in the accounting department. She retired in 1982. As a life long Baptist she belonged to First Baptist Church of Alton, which later became the River of Life Community Church. She gave many years to teaching Sunday School classes as well as being the church clerk, treasurer and serving on the social committee.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son; Jerry Walden and his spouse Phillis and a daughter; Barbara McHugh and her spouse Alan, three grandchildren; Dianna Walden, Glenn Walden, Kris Walden, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, and infant son, and her brother; H. Willard Ballard. .
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, on Friday November 20, 2009 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL. Funeral Services will be at 10 am, on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the funeral home with the Reverend's Roger Bruce and Paul McGarvey officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto IL. .
