Deloris Peuterbaugh

Deloris Mae Peuterbaugh, 75, died at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. She was born in Fieldon, IL. on Jan. 12, 1934 one of four children born to the George H. "Shortie" and Mary Louis (Scoggins) German. 

She attended schools in Jersey and Calhoun counties and attended Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville.  She had been employed at Bush's IGA in Jerseyville from their first day of business.  During her time there, she assisted in the meat department, was a checker, and at the time of the store closing, was their office manager.  She later became employed with the Illinois Valley Economic Development in Jerseyville, where she was a case worker and home health aide.

She married Charles Ray Peuterbaugh Sr. on Oct. 17, 1950 in Jerseyville, and together they were married for nearly 43 years and raised three children before his death on Aug. 15, 1993. She was a member of the former Healing Waters Temple, and currently was a member of the First Assembly of God, both in Jerseyville. She was well known for her love of animals and having a heart of gold.  Her family was her life, and faith in God her rock.  She enjoyed quilting and made many lovely quilts for her family.

Surviving are a daughter, Janice Peuterbaugh Kadell of Jerseyville; a son, David Peuterbaugh & his wife, Jill Thurston of Jerseyville; a daughter in law, Lisa Peuterbaugh of Jerseyville; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Chris Kadell, and his fiance' LeAnn Giberson of Jerseyville, Jacob & Kathy Kadell of Brighton, John & Michelle Peuterbaugh of Kensington, Ohio, Chas & Carisa Peuterbaugh of Jerseyville, Adrienne and Chris Schaefer of Holiday Shores, Sunjhata Thurston and Davi Leigh Thurston both of Jerseyville; 13 Great Grandchildren; a brother & sister in law, George & Denise German; and three step sisters & their spouses, Rosemary & Chuck Alderman and Janice & Bruce DeCourcey all of Petersburg, and Elaine Mackelden of St. Charles, Mo.; two aunts, Emma Talley and Ann White both of Jerseyville, and her lifelong friend, Evelyn Woolsey of Jerseyville. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Ray Peuterbaugh on Nov. 11, 1998; her father & step mother, George & Grace German; her mother & step father, Mary & Walter Walker; a  great grandson, Adam Christopher Kadell; an infant brother, John German; an infant sister, Ethel German; and a loving niece, Jessica German Hartley.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10 a.m., at the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, with Revs. Randy Cartwright & Olin Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Summit Grove Cemetery in Kampsville. Memorials may be given to the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville or to the Jersey Community Hospital Foundation.
