Gwendolyn E. Oliver, 76, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2009 at VIP Manor in Wood River.
Born March 30, 1933 in East Alton, she was the daughter of George and Maggie (Mitchell) Carroll.
She worked as a dietician at Alton Mental Health Center for 9 years.
She is survived by her mother of Wood River; a daughter, Mary Lafferty of Hartford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger and Cathy Carroll of Alton and David Carroll of Louisiana; two stepchildren, Sarah Oliver of Bethalto and Kenneth Oliver and his wife Mary Jo of Godfrey; 10 grandchildren, Scott, Todd, Bobby, Jessi, Amanda, Melissa, Markus, Jaime, Justin, and Nicolas; 12 great grandchildren, Sabrina, Sierra, Brett, Alyanna, Christopher, Kate, Cameron, Torrie, Laura, Robby, Jessi and Bobby; two sisters, Verna Lack of Cottage Hills and Velma Braundmeier of Fieldon; two stepsisters and a stepbrother, Sharon, George and Sue Anne; and her very close friend, Barbra Eby of Elsah.
She was preceded in death by her father and her husband, Elvis Oliver.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23.
Interment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
