Betty Russell

Betty Alice Russell, 75, died at 2:40 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2009 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Berdan on Aug. 4, 1934, and was the daughter of the late William & Della (Shannon) Ridenbark. She attended schools in Kane, and married Charles Russell on Dec. 29, 1956 in Jerseyville.  Together, they have shared almost 53 years together. An excellent cook, Betty was employed at Stark Shelter Care in Jerseyville, where she prepared the meals, and also did housekeeping before retiring in 1991 after 25 years of service. Surviving are her husband, Charles Russell of Jerseyville; a son & daughter in law, Dale & Alice Russell of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Glenna Honey & Juanita "Sis" Hall both of Alton; five brothers & sisters in law, Bob & Doris Ridenbark and Gene & Peg Ridenbark all of Fieldon, Theron & Wanda Ridenbark of Jerseyville, Max Ridenbark of Fieldon; many nieces & nephews, including a special niece and her son , Darlene & Tyler Cox of Alton; and her special caregivers, Brittany, Andrea, Jamie & Janet. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Tommy William Russell, and a six year old son, Kevin Charles Russell; and a brother, Wayne Ridenbark. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday.  Rev. David Ford will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the Kane Baptist Church where she was a member.
