Roy Donald (Don) Moran passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 under the care of BJC Hospice Care at his home with his family by his side.

He was born to the late Harley E. and Martha L. (Lawrence) Moran on July 17, 1932 in Fidelity, Illinois.

He married Carol A. (Ripplinger) Eschbach on March 14, 1968 in Alton, Illinois. She survives.

He retired from Olin Corporation in 1994 where he worked for 42 years as a strip anneal operator in the Brass Mill. He was a member of College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Alton. Don was a St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed bowling. One of his favorite things to do was walking the beloved family dog, a yellow lab named "Libby". He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.

In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by their seven children, Jeanette D. (Randy) Wade of Alton, Cheryl E. Wenstrom of White Cloud, MI, Robert J. (Jill) Eschbach of Alton, Cheryl L. (Steven) Haas of Alton, Lisa M. Mason of Cocoa, FL, Cynthia K. (Larry) Hardgrave of Cottage Hills and Tina L. (Brian) Bacigalupo of Bay City, MI; eleven grandchildren, Cammie L (Michael) Gray, Brian (Angela) Wade, Brett (Raquel) Eschbach, Sarah (Steve) Payne, Thomas Wentrom, Christopher (Emily) Wenstrom, Meghan and Andrew Kayser, Leah Mason, Lindsay and Carter Bacigalupo; six great grandchildren, Jacob McCann, Breanna Gray, Kalsey & Hannah Gray, Ember Wade and Abigail Payne; siblings, June Read & Lois Green of Hardin, Joan (Jack) Payne of Edwardsville, Janet (Norbert) Diveley of Arnold, MO, Jeanie (Bud) Spangler of Lawrenceville, IL and Hope (Richard) Cox of Alton and numerous nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond of.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Harold Moran and four sisters, Mary Nodiff, Kathryn Stewart, Joyce and Kathleen Moran and a son-in-law, Thomas E. Wenstrom.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 10 am to service time at 12 Noon on Friday, October 16, 2009 at Elias Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Rev. Janet Reily officiating.

Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice or the College Avenue Presbyterian Church.
