Victor Bauswell

Victor Dean Bauswell, 86, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009 at his home.
Born Sept. 12, 1923 in Purdin, Mo., he was the son of Glen and Eva Mary (Jones) Bauswell.
His marriage to Nelda R. Barrows took place July 1, 1942 in St. Charles, Mo. She passed away April 5, 2009.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. A staff sergeant, he served under Gen. George S. Patton, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and later was taken as a prisoner of war.
He worked as an electrician for Laclede Steel for 40 years. His memberships include the Wood River Moose Lodge, the Alton Eagles, the Alton VFW Post #1308, the Alton American Legion, the Alton Masonic Lodge, and the First Baptist Church of East Alton.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald Dean and Betty Bauswell of Godfrey, Victor Ray Bauswell of Las Vegas, Nev., Roger Bauswell of East Alton, and Greg and Tracy Bauswell of Moro; a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Jon McKillip of Dallas, Tex.; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Avis and Quinton Darr of Kansas City, Mo.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John and Quinn Bauswell.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at the First Baptist Church in East Alton.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, with military honors by the VFW, Alton Post #1308.
Memorials may be made to the church.
