Vernettia "Net" L. Henderson, age 75, passed away at 7:50 pm Monday, September 14, 2009 at Christian Hospital North East in St. Louis, MO with her family by her side.
She was born in Tamms, IL on July 3, 1934, the daughter of Lark & Mary (Schilling) Jackson.
She married Ralph Henderson on November 28, 1953 in Reynoldsville, Illinois. He passed away on June 28, 2007.
Vernettia was a capper operator at Olin Corporation for over 20 years, retiring in 1989; she enjoyed fishing with her husband Ralph, sewing, she enjoyed watching children swimming at her house, and was very devoted to her family, and enjoyed people.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Kaye Henderson of Bethalto; a granddaughter, Tiffany Nicole Henderson of Bethalto; her wonderful friends, Roy, June, Lyndsey and Whitney Gibson; two brothers and five sisters, Mary Overmeyer of Bethalto, Charles Betts of Mayfield, KY, Wesley Betts of Brighton, Carmelita Betts of Edwardsville, Bernelda Burney and her husband Bill of Wood River, Alta Smith and her husband Graydon of Carbondale, Edna Gold of Wood River and two sisters-in-law, Lillie Betts of Tamms, IL and Debbie Betts of Bethalto.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers Robert, John and Clifford Betts, and Lark Jackson Betts Jr., two sisters and a brother-in-law, Navitus Betts, Leona and Harvey Roach, four sisters-in-law, Jean, Ann, Margaret and Joyce Betts, four brothers-in-law and a two sister-in-law, Larry Gold, Robert & Ruby Betts, and Jim Overmeyer, and Dwight & Margaret Schilling.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday September 17, 2009 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home, in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday September 18, 2009 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or a Charity of One's Choice.
