Mahlon Smith, 82, passed away at 12:08 am Saturday September 5, 2009 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton.
He was born on December 5, 1926 in Princeton, IN, the son of Harry A. & Ruby Jane (Crews) Smith.
He married Gloria Bramhall on December 26, 1954 and she preceded him in death.
He was a US Navy Veteran and retired from Ford Motor Company as a computer specialist.
He is survived by his children and spouses, David & Lina Smith of Charleston, SC, Susan Douglas of Cottage Hills, Sarah & Mike Ryan of Alton, and Thomas Smith of Alton; two grandchildren, Jamie Douglas of Carbondale and Jillian Phillips of Roxana; one great grandson, Nathaniel Phillips at home, and a sister, Betsy Smith of Mt. Vernon.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen Smith.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Inurnment will be at Pin Oak Cemetery in Sims, IL.
Memorials may be made to the 5A's.
