Mary Britts, 87, of Alton, Illinois died September 5, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born to Mary and Gale Wilkinson in Clayton, MO on June 6, 1922.
She married Charles W. Britts Jr. in 1945 in Alton, IL.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Albert J. & Sallee Wilkinson of Godfrey, IL, daughters Marie Schickedanz of Alton, IL, Rita Hillman, of Lafayette, Indiana, and daughter & son-in-law Theresa & David Simonds of San Antonio, TX. Her grandchildren, Dene & Tina Schickedanz, Glen Carbon, IL; Dr. Aimee & Scott Browne, of Atlanta, GA, Nicholas and Elizabeth Hillman of Lafayette, IN, and two great grandsons, Landen and Spencer Schickedanz. She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Lisa Habib, Michael Wilkinson, David Wilkinson, Robert Britts, Alicia Clemons, and Clarence Britts Jr.
Her husband, Charles, and sister Eleanor Wilkinson and nephew Monte Britts preceded her in death.
She was an avid prize winning gardener for her intricate flower gardens, landscaping and fish ponds and an award winning artist specializing in oils and watercolors.
She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Thursday September 10, 2009 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday September 11, 2009
Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Alton.
