William A. Phillips 63 passed away at 9:09 p.m. on September 1, 2009, at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton.
He was born in Bingham, IL. on May 30, 1946, the son of the late Areli Claude and Pearl (Hicks) Phillips.
He married Carol Black, on July 27, 1968, in Cerro Gordo, Il.
He worked as a senior Industrial Engineer for Laclede Steel Co. for twenty years. He lived in the Alton Godfrey area for thirty-eight years, and was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Carol, a daughter Martha Phillips of Godfrey, an son and his wife Seth W. Erin Phillips of Godfrey, four grandchildren Ian, Hannah and Elyse Phillips and Grayson Woods, two sisters Jane and her husband Don Morr of Bement, IL, Kathryn Phillips of Burbank, CA and a brother John and his wife Barbara Phillips of Decatur, IL and many Neices and Nephews and special family friends Jean Roach and Derek and Kristin.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Friday, September 4, 2009, at the Elias Kallal And Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL. Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 am, Satuday September 5, 2009, with the Rev. Don Long officiating at the Cerro Gordo Cemetery in Cerro Gordo, IL.
Memorials may be directed to the 5 A's Animal Shelter.
